Once you have built a “rough cut” sequence on the timeline, you can trim clips to refine the edits and timing.

Before you begin

Create a project, add media, and build a sequence on the timeline.

Different trimming techniques in Premiere Pro.

  1. Select the clip you want to trim.

  1. Hover your mouse over the edge of the clip until the trim icon appears.

  1. Select and drag the edge of the clip to the desired length for clipping.

Result

Play back the clip to see that the trimmed section of the clip does not play in the Program Monitor.
