Error code 9: GC customhook failed to read user consent

Error code 9 indicates that gccustomhook failed to read user consent stored in the consent storage location, that is, the AdobeGCInfo folder. This consent is specific to the installation of Adobe Genuine Service.

The location of the user consent file is as follows:

  • Windows: C:\Users\Public\Documents\AdobeGCInfo
  • macOS: /Users/Shared/AdobeGCInfo

Solution

AdobeGCInfo or its contents might be corrupted or have invalid permissions. Follow the following steps to fix the error:

  1. Delete the AdobeGCInfo folder along with its contents, if any.

  2. Relaunch the Creative Cloud desktop app.

  3. Accept or deny the consent on the Adobe Genuine Service consent dialogue that appears based on your requirements.
