Substance 3D Modeler 1.18.0 overview

V1.18.0 brings some improvements to Export and Primitives, as well as some general quality-of-life improvements.

Modeler V1.18.0 full release notes

Primitives:

  • Converting from primitive to clay now assigns the correct material to the new clay object.
  • Linked groups or components inside primitive containers can now be set to the None Combine mode.
  • When selecting primitives and groups of primitives, parameters are now available so that all primitives in the selection can be updated at once.

Export:

  • Added a new parameter to Export – Use local space. When an object is selected, this can be toggled on to export the object so that it appears at the origin of the exported file.
  • Using File > Export now opens the Export panel, even if you were already in Export mode with another panel open.
  • Memory usage improvements when exporting as triangles.
  • The Material panel is now available in Export mode.

Quality of life:

  • Updated icons throughout the app.
  • Moved the shortcuts list to the Properties panel.
  • Added a button in VR to reset the grip pose.
  • Taper can now also be adjusted negatively both for primitives and clay brushes.
  • Added a Shear parameter to the Prism (triangular) primitive. This makes it possible to more easily create isosceles triangles.
  • Render mode resolutions can now be changed by modifying either width or height. Resolution will still be constrained to the selected Aspect Ratio.

General changes and fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where gizmo handles could behave incorrectly when a component was in focus.
  • Updated some strings and added missing tooltips.
