Professional color grading brings visual consistency and impact to your generated videos. Firefly video editor (beta) allows you to use color adjustment tools and apply cinematic styles or fine-tune individual color properties.
You can use the Looks panel to apply preset color styles for quick results, or use Color adjustments to manually control brightness, contrast, and color tones. These adjustments apply to individual images or video clips in your timeline, allowing you to use different styles across your project.
Before you begin
Make sure to have:
- A project created in the Firefly video editor (beta)
- Media files added to the timeline in the editor

Hover over the binocular or Show original icon from the top-right of the panel to view the original clip without the preset.
Select the Reset to default icon to remove the applied Looks preset and revert to clip to its original colors.
Adjust color settings manually
On the timeline, select the image or video clip for which you want to manually adjust the colors.
In the right toolbar, select the Color adjustments icon .
Adjust the available sliders to refine the color and lighting of the clip.
Each slider in the Color adjustments panel controls a specific aspect of your clip's appearance:
- Contrast: Adjusts the difference between light and dark areas of the image.
- Exposure: Changes the overall brightness of the clip.
- Highlights: Adjusts brightness in the brightest areas of the image.
- Shadows: Adjusts brightness in darker areas.
- Temperature: Warms or cools the overall color tone.
- Tint: Shifts colors toward green or magenta.
- Saturation: Controls the intensity and richness of colors.
Hover over the binocular or Show original icon from the top-right of the panel to view the original clip without the preset.
Select the Reset to default icon to remove all the applied Looks preset and revert to clip to its original colors.
You can also double-click individual slider nodes to reset them.
For best results, apply a Looks preset first to establish a base style, then refine the appearance using Color adjustments for precise control.
Manual adjustments work independently of Looks presets. However, you can combine both approaches for complete control over your video's color grading.
