With Generative expand, you can enlarge the canvas of an image and add missing details or entirely new elements in the expanded area.

Try it in the app
Expand an image and fill it with Firefly-generated content in a few simple steps.

  1. Select Generative fill on the Firefly website.

  2. Upload an image or select a sample asset from the gallery.

  3. Select Expand  .

  4. Select from the available ratio presets or choose the Freeform option to set Width and Height dimensions. You can also use the crop handles to extend the image canvas.

    Select the Freeform option to set your preferred ratio for expanding the image.

  5. If you want to move the image within the extended canvas, select and drag it to a new position.

  6. Add a detailed description to the Prompt field explaining how you want to extend the background or leave it blank if you want it to be extended based on the existing image, and then select Generate.

    The image has been expanded, and you can browse through the generated options or create more options.
    Browse through the generated options to select the one that best matches your vision.

  7. After the image is ready, select Share to copy it or open it in Adobe Express for further editing, or select Download to save the image locally with content credentials added automatically.

Note:

To provide feedback on the quality and accuracy of a variation or report it for being problematic or offensive, select the  icon on a variation and then rate or report the content.
