How to resolve configuration errors when starting a Creative Cloud application

When you launch a Creative Cloud application, a configuration error (Error 1, Error 15, or Error 16) is displayed, which prompts you to uninstall and then reinstall the product. 

Configuration error

The error occurs when permissions to application folders (Adobe PCD and SLStore) are set incorrectly. Follow the instructions below to set the correct permissions for your operating system.

macOS

Set permissions for both the SLStore and the Adobe PCD folders.

  1. Launch Finder and in the menu bar, select Go > Go to Folder

  2. Enter /Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore and select return

  3. Select control on your keyboard and then select the SLStore folder.

  4. In the menu that opens, select Get Info and expand the Sharing & Permissions section.

  5. Select the lock icon. When prompted, enter your administrator username and password, and then select OK.

  6. Set permissions:

    • System: Read & Write
    • Admin: Read & Write
    • Everyone: Read & Write

  7. Select the dropdown menu icon   and select Apply to enclosed items.

  8. Close the SLStore Info window.

  1. Launch Finder and in the menu bar, select Go > Go to Folder

  2. Enter /Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore and select return

  3. Select control on your keyboard and then select the Adobe PCD folder.

  4. Expand the Sharing & Permissions section.

  5. Select the lock icon. When prompted, enter your administrator username and password, and then select OK.

  6. Set permissions:

    • System: Read & Write
    • Admin: Read only
    • Everyone: Read only
  7. Select the dropdown menu icon   and select Apply to enclosed items.

  8. Close the Adobe PCD Info window.

Windows 11

To resolve the error in Windows 11, perform all of these steps:

  1. Open a File Explorer window.

  2. Select View and then select Show > Hidden items .

Perform this procedure two times, once each for the Adobe PCD and the SLStore folders.

SLStore

ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore

Adobe PCD

 

Windows 64 bit: Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ Adobe PCD\

  1. In File Explorer, right-click the Adobe PCD or the SLStore folder, and select Properties.

  2. Select the Security tab, and then select Edit to set permissions.

  3. Select a group under Group or user names and give permissions under Permissions for Everyone:

    Adobe PCD

    • Administrators: Full control

    SLStore

    • Administrators: Full control
    • System: Full control
    • Users: Read and Special permissions

    You have successfully given the required permissions.

  4. Select OK to close the Permissions dialog box.

  5. In the Propeties window, select Advanced.

  6. Select Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object, and then select OK.

    You have now updated all child object permission entries.

  7. Select OK to close the SLStore or Adobe PCD Properties window. 

Windows 10

Follow these steps to resolve the error on Windows 10.

  1. Open a File Explorer window.

  2. Select View and then select Show > Hidden items .

Perform this procedure two times, once each for the Adobe PCD and the SLStore folders.

Windows 32 bit:  Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe PCD\

Windows 64 bit: Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\ Adobe PCD\

  1. In File Explorer, right-click the Adobe PCD or the SLStore folder, and select Properties.

  2. Select the Security tab, and then select Edit to set permissions.

  3. Select a group under Group or user names and give permissions under Permissions for Everyone:

    Adobe PCD

    • Administrators: Full control

    SLStore

    • Administrators: Full control
    • System: Full control
    • Users: Read and Special permissions
  4. Select OK to close the Permissions dialog box.

  5. In the Propeties window, select Advanced.

  6. Select Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object, and then select OK.

  7. Select OK to close the SLStore or Adobe PCD Properties window.
